House of Dyslexics

I've had the thought to create this blog for a while in hopes to maybe find some other people that can relate. So our house might not be completely full of dyslexics but it's got two and that's plenty.  No I'm not one of them. I'm the zookeeper, trying to care for these creatures that don't speak English. Ok they speak it just fine (most of the time), they just don't read it, write it, or listen to it very well.

When I started researching dyslexia last year, grasping at straws for answers to our daughters difficulties with reading and writing, suddenly so many other aspects of our lives started to make sense and I realized I wasn't crazy...they were. HAHA!  Ok ok, I'll stop comparing my family to crazy monkeys. They're incredible. Their minds truly are amazing even though they learn and process things differently, I couldn't fathom life without them. That's why I'm searching so hard for answers on how to manage certain dyslexic quirks so that we can be on the same page and make our family and household run more smoothly.

Goal numero uno: time management

This could solve the bulk of our conflicts. I don't expect it to come easily but I know there must be a way to teach them to manage their time. Schedules don't work. Timers don't work. Threats don't work. SOMEONE HELP ME!!!!!  I'm pulling my hair out.
